Mark T. White

Home page kitchen design by Mark T. White, CKB, CBD. Mark says, “This was an
amazing project to work on.” The architect defined the shell with interesting
angles, and the homeowner wanted something outside the box. As the layout
was determined, a palette ofmaterials started to come together to forma rich
and elegant space.

Working with the homeowners and Brown Davis Interiors, the custom cabinetry
was selected. Each wall cabinet door is designed to repeat the square
motif which blends Ribbon Mahogany, English Sycamore inlay and Pommele
Sapelli on a flat panel to create a rich look. The countertops are 3” thick stainless
steel with integrated sinks and a stainless steel backsplash, equipped
with a rail to hang frequently used utensils.

The center island serves as a prep area with a built-in trough sink and plenty
of counter space. There are also refrigerator drawers, a warming drawer,
microwave drawer, pull-out waste bin, and lots of additional functional storage
space. The large island is the main clean-up zone. It creates the border
between the kitchen and the dining room and is topped with a Wenge breakfast
bar with seating for eight. A lot of different elements came together in
this kitchen to create a functional space that is absolutely stunning.
