Discover the human body's unique, preferred posture and learn how to design products and office spaces for the future that will help users maximize health and productivity while looking past current fads and politically-correct issues. Dr. Congleton provides ergonomic insights into the latest ergonomics research and shows practical ways that ergonomics can have a positive impact on the workplace. Consider how basic principles and practices affect everything from seating and workstation design, to computer and keyboard designs. This presentation begins with an overview of anthropometrics, the body’s preferred posture, and traditional risk factors. It then moves on to evaluate the workplace in terms of its "ergo-friendliness" to seated workers and the examination of broad-based cultural changes that must combine with physiological and anthropometric considerations of human design to predict issues that will most impact future product design and office spaces. It will delve into specifics of standing workstations, sit/stand™ workstations, obese workers, split keyboards and flat screens and their effects on the office of the future.
